| Compaction limits pore space, air and water
in the soil,
reducing both root and plant growth
and crop yield. However good soil tilth:
- Creates a more open
soil structure for improved water absorption, infiltration
and percolation.
- Helps allow excess water to drain if it's too wet.
- Opens
up soil and increases its water-holding capacity.
