Delayed Emergence Effects

Critical Condition

A plant that starts fast is in the best position to maximize its potential.

  • Uniform, warm, moist (not wet) seed bed conditions and seed-to-soil contact are critical. Good seed-to-soil contact depends upon residue management and surface soil conditions.
  • The ideal seed bed allows air to infiltrate for quick soil warm-up and good, early root growth, while allowing uniform and adequate moisture for fast and uniform germination.
